Girl Develop It Hosted a 2-Part Programming Class

Girl Develop It, an iHub tenant and non-profit that provides affordable and judgment-free opportunities for women interested in learning web and software development, hosted a 2-part programming class for women at the iHub.

Beech Technologies Working in 252 E. Market this Summer

After completing Code Louisville’s Coding @ the Beech program earlier this month, seven local high school students launched Beech Technologies, a web development business. This summer they will spend thirty hours a week in the recently renovated Trinity Video Communications Center training room in 252 E. Market as part of the Mayor’s SummerWorks job program, providing small businesses and early stage companies with an affordable web presence that includes a custom website with up to twenty pages, fully integrated e-commerce, a Google account, social media presence and full customer support. George and Greg Fischer, founders of SerVend International, discussed creating an industry benchmark fixture, becoming the number one manufacturer of ice and beverage dispensing systems nationally and internationally, and running a family business.

Nucleus Participates in KY Trade Mission to United Kingdom

UofL and Nucleus have been invited to attend the Governor's Trade Mission to the United Kingdom May 11-16. Vickie Yates Brown will represent UofL and Nucleus on this trip; she will present to and meet with Innovation and Research Parks in the UK as well as companies potentially interested in a soft landing spot in the United States at Nucleus.

Nucleus Hosted SBA Administrator Contreras-Sweet

Nucleus hosted Maria Contreras-Sweet, Chief Administrator of the Small Business Administration, who was in Louisville for the Kentucky SBIR/STTR Annual Conference as part of the Federal SBIR/STTR Tour. Ms. Contreras-Sweet presented Nucleus with a certificate recognizing its role in promoting innovation and growing small businesses for Kentucky and the nation.

Heather French Henry, Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, welcomed the VetStart veterans on the first day of LaunchIt.

Kent Taylor, Founder, CEO and Chairman of Texas Roadhouse, discussed his experiences with founding a casual themed restaurant and growing it to over 400 restaurants with almost $2B in sales on October 29th at the iHub. This event was recorded and will be aired on KET at a later date.

British Consul General Stephen Bridges met with Nucleus tenant companies to discuss "Doing Business with the United Kingdom - An Inside Perspective" at The Nucleus on Wednesday, August 20th.

VetStart selected nine veteran applicants for the Fall 2015 program. The veterans will receive funding to attend LaunchIt training and startup funds upon successful completion of LaunchIt.

Grand Opening of 252 E. Market

Nucleus hosted a press conference this morning in the newly renovated training center in the 252 E. Market building to announce the completion of the Trinity Video Communications Center, welcome Code Louisville to this space and announce that Learning House has committed to hosting coding bootcamps in this space in the near future. Open Office Hours at the iHub

Nucleus is expanding our Open Office Hours program at the iHub. Open Office Hours is designed to provide complimentary advice from local service providers to startups and early stage companies and is open to any startup or early stage company in the area. KiZAN Technologies LLC, which will provide technology consulting assistance, is the most recent addition; they began hosting Open Office Hours in December. Other companies participating in Open Office Hours are Chrysalis Ventures, Fort Law Group and Deming Malone Livesay and Ostroff. Atria Support Center at The Nucleus Received a Cornerstone Award

The Louisville Downtown Partnership recognized the Atria Support Center at The Nucleus as a significant downtown project at its Annual Awards Celebration on April 13th.

Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development Highlighting Innovation in Kentucky

Nucleus welcomed the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and journalists and bloggers from the technology and development publications from across the nation on Monday, September 29th for the first stop on the Startup In Kentucky tour. Atria Senior Living and a dozen early stage companies on the campus were highlighted. A reception was held on the rooftop garden featuring bourbon and desserts prepared by Atria's chef.

Debbie Scoppechio, Founder and Chairman of Creative Alliance, discussed founding and growing one of the largest independent advertising agencies in the U.S. to over $150M in annual billings on Wednesday, August 27th at the iHub. This will be aired on KET at a later date.

Nucleus Vendor List

"Kentucky Entrepreneur" Segment on KET

Louisville business legend John Schnatter, founder and CEO of Papa John's International, will be featured in the second  “Kentucky Entrepreneur” segment on KET channels beginning Sunday, May 25th.  “Kentucky Entrepreneur”, sponsored by Nucleus: Kentucky’s Innovation Center, showcases top Kentucky entrepreneurs and businesspeople sharing their “how I did it” stories with entrepreneurs.  In the hour-long program, Schnatter talks about the launch and growth of the third largest pizza chain in America.  The dates and times of “Kentucky Entrepreneur: Papa John’s John Schnatter”: Sunday, May 25th at Noon; Tuesday, May 27th at 8 p.m.; Thursday, May 29th at 6 a.m.; Saturday, May 31st at 3 p.m; and Thursday June 19th at 4 a.m.
